Wine Tasting

When: Back to Calendar August 25, 2012 @ 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

NV Varichon & Clerc ‘Previlege’  Brut Rose, Savoie $15
Often served as an aperitif. A fruity sparkling wine, delicate bubbles, a kind of floral minerality with hints of wild strawberries on the nose and palate.

2010 Figeat, Pouilly Fume, France $23
A feminine, well balanced floral and minerality. A kind of elegance. The Fume in the title actually means ‘smoky’ and refers to the gunflint character of the appellation’s Sauvignon Blanc. 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown on Kimmeridgian limestone, gray flint silex, and sandy, clay soil. Farming is done sustainably. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and only lightly filtered. Bright medium lemon-green color with very light legs. Clean nose, medium intensity, some what youthful aromas of lemon zest, fresh herbs and cut grass with a flinty minerality. A great Sauvignon Blanc true to the Pouilly-Fumé area.

2010 Hall Sauvignon Blanc, California $27
A focused reflection of its vintage and vineyards: vibrant, balanced, and fragrant. The 2010 growing season was one of the coolest on record and leaves its signature imprint by lending finesse, structure and polished minerality. The resulting wine delivers a cleansing palate with soft, ripe fruit and expressive tree blossom and mineral notes on the finish.

2010 Talmard Chardonnay, France $30
A zesty minerality, grapefruit & tarragon, unoaked and maintains balance of acidity beautifully.

2011 Flor Del Paramo Rose $18
In rosé form, it’s deeply colored and bursting with flavors of nectarine, plum, blood orange and a slight coppery bite. Medium pink in color with an enticing perfume of cherry blossom, strawberry, and pomegranate. On the palate, it reveals a fruity character suggestive of at least some carbonic maceration. Full-flavored, dry, and spicy, it will provide enjoyment over the next 12-18 months.

2010 Louis Bernard Cotes Du Rhone, France $12
Louis Bernard Cotes du Rhone is an attractive ruby red color. On the nose, it has tart red fruits, such as red currant and red cherry, and black pepper. On the palate, this wine has a nice attack, full of fruits, and an ample finish. The varietal that dominates the southern Cotes-du-Rhône is Grenache. Although all wines from this region are blends, it is this particular grape that distinguishes them from wines of other parts of the world.

2009 I Perazzi, Italy $16
A tasty, vibrant red bursting with sweet dark cherries, flowers, spice, and minerals. This is a decidedly fresh style for the Perazzi with excellent length and fine overall balance. Anticipated maturity 2011-2013.

2009 Ripasso Farina, Italy $28
This wine delivers a funky note of sweaty saddle on plum, prune and chocolate, with a bitter, spicy edge.

2009 Manifesto Red Zinfandel, California $23
Ruby red in color. Nose full of red raspberry, bright cherry, blackberry, and plum with secondary aromas of orange peel, rose petal and Asian spice. Mouth full of ripe cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and stone fruit. Long finish with secondary flavors of blackberry pie and a hint of baker’s chocolate.

2009 Charles Krug Cabernet $34
Lush flavors of black currant with rose petals while supple, smoky
overtones visit the back palate. Silky mouthfeel & balanced tannins
create an elegant finish.
